Carter smiled at the little hedgehog that a camper had brought in. He was probably a runt, he was uncharacteristically small for his species. She picked up his little leg and examined the wound it had gained. "Poor thing, you must be in so much pain," she said apologetically. She turned on the warm water in the sink and said, "Let's bathe you, then you'll feel better." She grabbed the sensitive soap and put the small hedgehog in the water. After turning off the water she put some soap in her hands and rubbed her hands together to form suds. She then started scrubbing the dirt and blood out of the hedgehog's coat.
A few minutes later she drained the sink and ran the water to rinse the hedgehog. Once she was finished with that she dried him off and smiled at him. "Now we'll patch up that leg of yours," she told him as she carried him to the table where she took out the medical supplies. "I'm not a certified veterinarian, but I can help," she assured him as she rubbed some antiseptic on the wound. A moment later his leg was bandaged up and he was a happy little hedgehog. "It's broken, but you'll be okay in a little while," she said to him. She lifted him up and kissed his head as she placed him in a small cage.
Carter leaned on the table and stared at the little limping hedgehog. "What is your name, little one?" She thought for a moment then stood up straight and said, "Ben? No..." She paces around the care center. "Alex? No..." She thought for a moment. "Robby? That's it. Robby. Nice to meet you, Robby." She smiles at him and sits down.
